Brakkenfestival 2022: the weekend edition

On the weekend of July 30 and 31, the Brakkenfestival is back! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., children ages 4 through 12 will play at Brabant's most fun children's event. The two-day festival traditionally takes place at the Optisport Ice Skating Rink on Terheijdenseweg.

A children's festival with real festival vibe: That means a range of activities, where children play freely, eat at a food court and of course music. With the safe services in volunteer supervision, first aid and dressing and toilet facilities you are used to from the Brakkenfestival. And the best part? Kids are in charge, as parents are asked to leave the festival grounds after a brief look around.

What's on offer

Of course, there are plenty of traditional and new activities on hand to add to the kids' fun. A few examples are painting, face painting, cupcakes or something sporty. Children play without parents under the supervision of trained volunteers.

Maximum 300 tickets available per day

With a ticket, children have access to all activities throughout the day. A ticket costs € 6 per child per day (€ 10 at the gate if there are still tickets available) and € 1 for children whose parents have a BredaPas. Tickets can be bought online at ticketkantoor.nl/shop/brakkenfestival2022 .

The organization is looking for volunteers

Do you want to lend a hand? You can do so by guiding an activity. The organization provides enough breaks and your lunch. And of course what it's all about: A day where you give children a fun day. You will participate in a mandatory online volunteer training, because a safe children's festival with knowledgeable volunteers is important. Sign up now at brakkenfestival.nl/volunteers/ .

History
The Brakkenfestival originated in 1988 because there was little organized for elementary school children during the summer vacations. The festival started small with a few hands-on activities and grew into a 5-day festival with an average of 1,500 children per day in the 2019 edition, when the festival last took place pre-corona. The festival rapidly evolved in this corona year to an online edition in 2020 where children's fun with activities was still the focus, but at home and online where children received a free materials box at home. The 34th edition will take place in 2022.
