For more than 30 years, the Brakkenfestival has been made possible entirely by volunteers. Without them, there simply would be no Brakkenfestival. Together, we create an unforgettable weekend full of fun, adventure, and lasting memories for hundreds of children aged 4 to 12.
As a volunteer, you'll work alongside a friendly and enthusiastic team to help run one of our activities. You don't need any previous experience working with children—enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help create an amazing weekend are what matter most!

You contribute to children's enjoyment of play. You will supervise, together with other volunteers, one of the activities we offer. You invest your time and get, besides experience in working with children, a lot in return. We ask for a flexible attitude but of course you may indicate a preferred activity when you sign up.

We have several options for this. Please contact us for this using the contact form.
We will lend you a T-shirt for the days you are there. Furthermore, you will wear easy-fitting clothes (that fit under your T-shirt) and closed shoes.
You may volunteer with us from the age of 16. Are you 13, 14 or 15 years old? Then you can sign up and be an assistant volunteer. In that case, you have to apply together with someone who is 16+ and responsible for you. We have no upper age limit and always find suitable volunteer work.
Nowhere do you get the chance to make the large number of children happy in such a short time than at the Brakkenfestival. With us you quickly feel at home and, even though we are present with 150 volunteers every day, we give personal attention to everyone by using a coordinator per region. Do you have children of elementary school age? You can bring them along for free.
Most volunteers volunteer all days of the festival. This means that you spend these hours on your volunteer work, including your breaks, 2 x 15 minutes, and lunch,1 x 30 minutes. It is possible to volunteer with us starting from 1 day.
You report daily at 08.00 and finish around 17.00, earlier if we finish cleaning up earlier. Besides the vacation week itself, you can help with preparations, for example with a working group on a regular basis. Would you like to know more about this? No, that's not necessary. Thanks to our sponsors we can provide lunch, something sweet with coffee and water or something else to drink. We also offer free fruit in the volunteer hospitality area, where there are no children so you can really unwind.
We ask that you smoke in the smoking area, out of sight of the children. Ask your coordinator where to find the smoking area.
Yes, you can. We always provide appropriate volunteer work so that both you, the children and your fellow volunteers enjoy your volunteer work.
